Using Contrast to Read a Situation
I embrace my impairment as an artist. I see the behavior of reading pattern as having significant potential to address the agendas of inclusive design. I work with three primary visual techniques - Hierarchy, Contrast, and Abnormality - in directing the visual attention of persons with a range of visual limitations, studying the incremental readability of painting subjects both near and far, and when used as organizational strategies for orchestrating a sequence of activities.
My pursuit of these references began with my previous studies of painting, design, and language. More recently my scholarly pursuit has focused on creatively implementing these subjects in hospitality and health.
